I wasn't familiar with Twain's essay about the German language. But I did some quick research. Poor old Mark:-) German is a strange and unnecessary complicated language. That's why I love English so much. It is clearer. But still no that easy to learn.

I'm sorry dom, I didn't mean to offend you. It was meant in good fun. I do that sort of thing with my mom all the time, as English isn't her native language either. I speak two languages semi-fluently, studied four more, and sung in a total of seven and I think languages are absurd. I don't know if you've read Mark Twain's diatribe on German in Tramp Abroad, but someone could do the same for any language out there. What are they good for if not for a laugh.

@Shari: Maybe I'm a bit sensitive today, but being mocked for making mistakes hurts. I'm not surrounded by people who speak proper English. In fact, at work I spend all day with people who don't. That doesn't necessarily help improve my English. I use translators when I'm not sure how to write something properly. And believe me, that happens a lot. But translators don't always give correct or confusing answers. Chatting with you all is a wonderful and great opportunity for me to learn. So, help or correct me. I appreciate it, I really do.
