Our country
My next door neighbor’s house is being reroofed right now. I am watching, in awe, as men carry heavy tiles on their necks up an extension ladder. I feel like I want to cry. The enemy is not these hard working people. Our country is on a crazy bend towards recession and division and non-truths and creating scapegoats. This is incredibly hard and makes me so sad. I am not sure what the path forward is, it just all seems so bleak…. I know this is not a political forum but the ennui is overwhelming and there are other things that are happening. These men also are so kind and respectful to me everyday. I just want to hug them all, and say I am so sorry. This is not me or us. We are better than this.

Those hardworking people that are roofing are very likely work visa holders and here legally. They are very hard working people. The lawn service my office uses hires seasonal work visa holders. I agree that they are very respectful and courteous. All most of us want is for the people who come here to do it legally and not take away from our citizens. To see the amount of funds spent for illegals is appalling. What about housing citizens that are "unhomed" drug treatment programs for our citizens that need help, better and more affordable health care for our citizens? I am all for people coming here legally to seek a better life but it is upsetting that they are being cared for at taxpayer expense rather than earning their way. My family scrimps and saves and has been devastated in many respects by inflation. My health insurance used to be $400 for 3 people, now $1,500 for 2 people. Don't get me started on homeowners insurance, groceries or utilities. There is a process for coming into this country. Is it too much to ask for people to follow the law?
Btw, my best friends daughter was killed by an illegal. No sympathy for those that break the law. Sorry.

This is exactly how one half of the country felt for the past four years. Now it's the other half's turn. They survived and so will you.
