Howdy! I'd mentioned part of this in another thread, but since this is the place for ideas I'll toss it here instead ♡ॢ₍⸍⸌̣ʷ̣̫⸍̣⸌₎

Concept: "endurance" tournament! Each round, the score required to advance (by % possible or by number of points? number seems more fun to me, though the boards would have to be curated for it) goes up-- compete to be the last one standing, or just see if you can get your new personal best score. The tournament ends when no one passes the current round, creating the spicy possibility of multiple champions~ ...Or maybe it ends when Lime gets bored playing alone and throws the round I guess, lol.

(And, to complicate things! it could be fun if failing one round doesn't knock you out just yet. Instead, you get one more round "in limbo," and you must clear the current round score + the amount you were short from your failed round in order to make your daring comeback into the tournament running.)

As a nitpicky little feature suggestion, a shortlist/toggle option in user settings for changing the font would be A+! Personally, for whatever reason I find Rubik just verrrry slightly harder to read than Nunito Sans Bold, for instance. Having a handful of high-legibility options would let players grab the font most comfortable for them. (Or perhaps even, experimentally, lowercase letters...) --And if there's a horrible memey hard-to-read font full of cluttered rainbows and confetti? you can give that one to Lime to make things fair ;)

Thanks for all your hard work, Alice the Wordgame Wizard (a "Spellcaster," if you will)!

Alice…I think it’d make the site 12 times better if there were lots of balloons, sparklers, confetti and more fireworks.

I’m pretty sure literally everyone else here - and everyone not here - agrees with me, so if you can do that, that’d be super nifty. Rainbows would also be nice.

Hello Syskid. You’re very welcome, I’m glad it’s working properly for you now.

Hello Leo.Zin. Thanks for your suggestions, I’ll consider these. This might be a good idea for a particularly cruel Tournament. To answer your question from the lobby’s Notice Board, I’ve been giving a lot of thought to different shaped/sized boards. I’m glad you like the site and feel welcome here.

Hello Sasa. It’s likely doable but would be problematic in another way, it’s something I’ll consider in future though, if others like the idea too.

Thank you Alice looks like the issue is fixed! What a difference it makes. (At least in my frustration level.) Also I seem to be able to type now, though not efficiently.

Leo.Zin wrote:

Might I suggest an “Unforgiving” mode that penalizes players for invalid words. It might be fun…in moderation haha and perhaps an “Even More Unforgiving” mode that penalizes players for BOTH invalid AND repeated words (though that actually sounds hellish, and I feel demonic just typing that lol).

Is it difficult to put those little dots in when someone is typing? I do like those and it prevents rudeness…

Hello Syskid and domino. This problem should now be resolved. You can now go back without having to retrace each letter. I’ve also made the gaps between letters slightly larger for desktop and laptop users, so hopefully this will make it less likely for people to select the wrong letter. Please let me know if there’s still an issue.

Hello Guest341. Thanks for the interesting suggestions, I’ll consider these.

Hello Sasa. This is on my list of things to do, soon it’ll be as shown on the Everyday Boards.

Hello Syskid and domino. I’ll have a look at this soon. There’s no reason why the game wouldn’t allow you to type using a laptop, I’m at a loss for what the cause could be. As Limequat said, it sounds like a computer setting. Please would you provide more details, Syskid?

Swiping is way better, definitely recommend going back to swiping. Weird that typing didn’t work - sounds like a funny setting?

Syskid wrote:

I use the mouse pad on my laptop. I actually tried typing last night just to see how it would go, and it....didn't. The game didn't even acknowledge my typing. Back in the day when Boggle was on Facebook and I played on my smartphone swiping with my thumbs, I was almost unbeatable. Those were the days!

Was there a reason the words aren’t in alphabetical order? After the game, I sometimes want to find a word I missed and it takes forever because they are jumbled up randomly.

Thanks.

PS you can delete my other posting under word order.

I have the same problem Sys has. Was like that from the start. If you miss the correct letters to create a word, you have to go back the precise way or to retype/drag the complete word correctly. I use my touchpad because I am not a fast typer. I can't even type properly:-))) I got used to the problem because I am not in the master's league, not that competitive and just happy with having fun.

What method do you use to play, Sys? I thought you typed.

Syskid wrote:

I have an issue with selecting the letters on the board. It too easily selects the wrong letters neighboring the ones I want and then I have to try the word all over again. Slows me down considerably. I suppose others would tell me the solution is just to type the words, but still there must be a fix for that. I don't have that issue at Boggle.
